TASTING NOTES
A golden robe with green highlights, enlivened by fine, persistent bubbles. The nose is complex and elegant: quince preserve, hay, lightly toasted brioche, redcurrant and white peach. The palate is taut and precise, with a chiselled freshness, a chalky minerality that frames the structure, and a lingering finish of floral notes and ripe stone fruits.
The composition

Terroirs
The lieu-dit Les Pommiers (22.77 ares), on the steep east-facing slopes of Épernay (~25% gradient), sits on soils of chalk and clay. The Meunier vines, grown from a massal selection planted in 1968 by Philippe Lancelot's grandfather and father, give full expression to the mineral tension characteristic of this sector.
About this house
Philippe Lancelot runs Domaine Y. Lancelot Wanner, founded in the 1970s by his parents, with parcels spread across Cramant, Avize, Chouilly, Oiry, Épernay and Aÿ. Convinced by the principles of living agriculture, he committed the estate to biodynamics in 2012, earning AB Ecocert certification (2014), followed by Demeter (2015) and Biodyvin (2020).
Driven by a desire to reveal each terroir without artifice, Philippe Lancelot harvests by hand, vinifies with very low sulphur inputs and practises ultra-low dosage. The cuvée Les Pommiers embodies this philosophy: a single-varietal wine from a family micro-parcel, vinified 60% in stainless steel and 40% in small-capacity oak barrels.
The perfect pairing
Aperitif
Its fine bubble, extra brut tension and brioche aromas make this a champagne of rare elegance as an aperitif.
Starter
The chalky minerality and citrus notes of the Meunier beautifully complement the delicate iodine quality of a sea bass carpaccio.
Main course
The crisp acidity and gentle oaky roundness of this old-vine Meunier pair with great precision alongside a green asparagus risotto.
