Louis Roederer Champagne — A house founded in 1776, creator of Cristal

Founded in Reims in 1776, Louis Roederer embodies one of Champagne’s finest traditions: that of an independent, family-run house which has remained in complete control of both its vineyards and its style. Seven generations have succeeded one another without ever taking the easy route, cultivating an exceptional vineyard and perfecting the art of blending to the point where it has become the benchmark. It was here, in 1876, that the Cristal cuvée was born – the first prestige champagne in history, created for Tsar Alexander II. Today, Roederer combines terroir, biodynamic viticulture and reserve wines aged in oak to produce champagnes of rare precision.

Iconic vintages: from the Collection to Cristal

The Louis Roederer range offers the perfect choice for every occasion. The Collection, a multi-vintage blend built around a perpetual reserve, is the house’s signature accessible cuvée: generous, full of character, and possessing a depth rarely found in a non-vintage champagne.

Cristal, created in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II, remains one of the world’s most sought-after prestige cuvées. Made exclusively from biodynamically cultivated vines and vinified in oak casks, it combines power and finesse with impressive consistency from one vintage to the next.

The range is completed by the Blanc de Blancs, a pure Chardonnay from the coolest crus of the Marne; the Vintage Rosé — one of Champagne’s finest gastronomic wines; and the Vintage wines, exceptional blends produced only in great vintages.

Our selection offers you a range of wines available from stock, delivered in reinforced packaging throughout France and Europe.

A family-run estate, an exceptional vineyard in Champagne

Since its foundation in 1776, Louis Roederer has maintained a rare distinction in Champagne: the house owns virtually all the grapes it uses for winemaking. With nearly 240 hectares of estate-owned vineyards in the finest crus of the Marne, a large proportion of which are cultivated using biodynamic methods, it maintains complete control over its raw materials from the vineyard to the glass.

Cellar master Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon vinifies each cru separately, plot by plot. The reserve wines, aged in large oak casks, lend the blend that unmistakable depth.

Your questions about Louis Roederer champagnes

How much does a bottle of Louis Roederer champagne cost?
The Collection is priced at around €50–65. Vintage wines are priced higher than this. Cristal often costs more than €250 a bottle. Please check each product page for the exact price and stock availability.
What is the difference between the Collection and the former Brut Premier?
The Collection replaced the Brut Premier in 2021. It is based on a perpetual reserve that enriches each vintage with elements from the previous one — making it livelier and more contemporary, whilst retaining Roederer’s signature vinous character.
Which Louis Roederer champagne should you give as a gift?
Le Cristal for a truly prestigious gift. The Collection or a Vintage selection for a more modest budget. Le Cristal Rosé for discerning connoisseurs. Contact us for advice tailored to your budget and the occasion.
How does delivery work?
Your champagnes are dispatched in reinforced packaging, anywhere in France and across Europe. Parcel tracking is included. Delivery charges and delivery times are shown at the time of ordering.
Should Roederer champagne be left to age?
The Collection is ready to drink immediately upon purchase but improves after 1–2 years of cellaring. The vintage wines and the Cristal have an ageing potential of several years, or even decades, in a cool, dark cellar.
