Tried it last night. A champagne with real class. Well packaged, arrived without a scratch. It really exceeded my expectations.

THE CUVÉES OF MAISON PÉHU SIMONET
A golden robe with copper highlights, threaded with fine, persistent bubbles. On the nose, violet, cocoa and red fruits — redcurrant, plum — combine with a pronounced chalky minerality. The palate is dense and taut, underpinned by a precise calcareous grip and a long finish with nuances of citrus and stone fruit.

Sourced from the lieu-dit Les Perthois in Verzenay, a Grand Cru village on the Montagne de Reims with deep chalky soils. 100% Pinot Noir vinified without malolactic fermentation, aged in barrels from the Forêt de Verzy and 600-litre demi-muids; a confidential production of 3,500 bottles.
Champagne Péhu Simonet is a family domaine in Verzenay, at the heart of the Montagne de Reims, whose Grand Cru vines are farmed with a plot-by-plot rigour inherited across several generations. The house has established itself as a benchmark for characterful Blanc de Noirs, driven by long ageing in local barrels and a no-malolactic approach that preserves the natural tension of Pinot Noir.
The 'Fins Lieux' range is the fullest expression of this philosophy: each cuvée captures the singularity of a single lieu-dit, vinified separately in a spirit close to Burgundy. A demanding, artisanal approach that has made Péhu Simonet one of the most sought-after growers in the appellation.

First order, and certainly not the last. Good body and a hint of minerality. No complaints about the delivery. I’m off to place another order.
