For over two centuries, the Rothschild family has embodied a bold vision, guided by excellence, attention to detail and a constant quest for perfection. The adventure began in 1744 with Mayer Amschel Rothschild, founder of a dynasty that would profoundly influence European history. As early as 1853, the family made a name for itself in the wine world with the acquisition of prestigious estates such as Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Lafite Rothschild and Château Clarke, all of which have become benchmarks for the great wines of Bordeaux.

Faithful to this exceptional tradition, the Barons de Rothschild decided to establish themselves in Champagne at the beginning of the 21st century, driven by the desire to create a wine in their image: refined, precise and timeless. The Barons de Rothschild Champagne House draws on its ancestral know-how and uncompromising standards to create elegant cuvées from the region's finest terroirs.

Anchored in the heart of the Grands Crus and Premiers Crus of the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims, the House works closely with passionate winemakers, respecting the environment, to guarantee quality, traceability and the purest expression of Chardonnay, the grape variety emblematic of its champagnes. Each cuvée bears the stamp of a unique heritage, where tradition and modernity unite to celebrate the French art of living.

A family union around an exceptional Champagne

Driven by their shared passion for great terroirs, the three branches of the Rothschild family - represented by Philippe Sereys de Rothschild, Ariane de Rothschild, and Eric with his daughter Saskia de Rothschild - joined forces for the first time in a common wine project.

In 2005, this shared desire gave birth to the Maison de Champagne Barons de Rothschild, with the ambition of creating a Grand Vin de Champagne in their image: refined, convivial and a reflection of the art of living that has united the family for generations.

Founding values at the heart of each cuvée

Since its creation, the House of Barons de Rothschild has followed the family's historic values:

Concordia, a symbol of harmony and unity, reflects the collective commitment of family members to a shared vision of Champagne, true to their tradition of unanimous agreement on every major decision.

Integritas embodies the demands of a pure, uncompromising style, through a singular interpretation of Chardonnay, mainly from Grands Crus and Premiers Crus, with deliberately minimal dosage.

Industria represents patient, meticulous craftsmanship, applied to a deliberately limited production, benefiting from the same exacting standards as the family's finest wines.

These three pillars define the unique identity of Champagne Barons de Rothschild: a Grand Vin born of a family tradition of excellence, elegance and precision.

Exceptional terroirs

The Rothschild family has established its vineyards in the heart of the Grands Crus and Premiers Crus of the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims, which account for over 90% of the House's supplies. Every day, we work closely with the winemakers to ensure quality, traceability and respect for the environment.

Chardonnay, the House signature

Chardonnay is the emblematic grape variety of Barons de Rothschild, embodying its quest for elegance and finesse. Although it is the rarest of the Champagne grape varieties, it accounts for over 70% of the House's supplies. Both delicate and capable of long ageing, it forms the basis of all our blends, never accounting for less than 50%, and in some cuvées as much as 100%. A true stylistic pillar, it fully reflects the House's philosophy:

"The primary quality must be absolute elegance."

The history of Barons de Rothschild, a heritage of excellence serving Champagne

The history of Barons de Rothschild began in the early 21st century, but is rooted in a centuries-old heritage of passion for wine. An emblematic family of European finance since the 18th century, the Rothschilds have always cultivated close ties with the great terroirs of France. As early as 1853, the family made a name for itself in the world of wine with the acquisition of prestigious Bordeaux estates such as Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Lafite Rothschild and Château Clarke. It wasn't until 2005 that the three branches of the family - represented by Philippe Sereys de Rothschild, Ariane de Rothschild and Eric with his daughter Saskia de Rothschild - joined forces to create a Champagne House, a first in the history of the dynasty. Their ambition: to shape a Grand Vin de Champagne in the image of the family's founding values - elegance, exacting standards, integrity and harmony. Located in the heart of the Grands Crus and Premiers Crus of the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims, the House gives pride of place to Chardonnay, the noble grape variety that forms the backbone of all its cuvées. Thanks to rigorous know-how, a deep respect for the terroir and deliberately limited production, each bottle signed Barons de Rothschild embodies a refined expression of the French art of living. Although young, the House has rapidly established itself as one of the most respected names in Champagne, perpetuating the winemaking excellence of the Rothschild line in a new shared adventure.

The Barons de Rothschild's influence on Champagne

Barons de Rothschild Champagne is undoubtedly one of the finest success stories in contemporary French viticulture. Although only recently founded in 2007, this house has rapidly established itself as one of the leading names in the Champagne world. Certainly, the weight of the Rothschild name has played a decisive role, but this success is above all based on a clear vision and uncompromising standards. The exceptional alliance of the three family branches has created a unique synergy, combining distinct but complementary heritages. The result is champagnes of remarkable finesse, recognizable in particular by their high proportion of Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs, the house's signature grape variety. The irreproachable quality of Barons de Rothschild cuvées also derives from a rigorous selection of grapes, exclusively from Grand Cru or Premier Cru vineyards. At the same time, prolonged ageing, far superior to the norms of the appellation, gives these champagnes incomparable aromatic complexity and creamy texture. Every bottle, from the signature Brut and delicate Rosé to the prestigious Rare Collection editions, bears witness to the meticulous expertise that fully justifies their positioning in the ultra-premium segment of the market. Beyond the excellence of its products, the House of Rothschild stands out for its resolutely modern vision. On the one hand, its ultramodern facilities combine tradition and technological innovation. On the other, its commitment to the environment is reflected in concrete initiatives such as the use of renewable energies and the preservation of biodiversity in its vineyards. Finally, the dazzling success of Champagne Barons de Rothschild proves that it is possible to make your mark in a world as traditional as that of champagne, provided you have a clear vision and never compromise on quality. Their story, still young but already remarkable, augurs well for the future of this exceptional house, the perfect embodiment of French excellence.

Prices vary from cuvée to cuvée, but the Champagne Brut signature is generally around €50 a bottle, while the Rare Collection editions can fetch €300-400.

Barons de Rothschild champagnes are distinguished by a high proportion of Chardonnay (50-70%), mainly from the Côte des Blancs, which gives them finesse and elegance.

The champagnes benefit from extended cellar ageing of 4 to 10 years, well beyond legal requirements, to fully develop their aromas.

The house uses only grapes from grands crus or the best premiers crus in Champagne, guaranteeing exceptional quality.

The company has implemented an exemplary CSR policy, favoring integrated viticulture, preserving biodiversity in its vineyards and using renewable energies in its facilities.
