Canard-Duchêne
Pale, brilliant gold robe with luminous glints. The nose reveals yellow and white fruits, lychee to the fore, over a discreetly smoky note and a touch of green almond. The palate is bright and lively, evoking a basket of apples and pears, before a tightly focused finish with delicate bitter notes.

The composition

Terroirs
A blend drawn from nine villages certified Organic Farming (Verneuil, Vandières, Moussy, Chamery, Merfy, Montgueux, Villenauxe-la-Grande, Villers-Marmery, Épernay), including the historic ZE 181 plot at Verneuil. The Chardonnays undergo their first fermentation in oak barrels, complemented by 30% reserve wines.
About this house
Founded in 1868 in Ludes, Canard-Duchêne became in 2009 the first Grande Maison de Champagne to include an Organic Farming certified cuvée in its permanent range, a pioneering commitment carried forward ever since by its Domaine de Ludes.
The P181 cuvée takes its name from the cadastral plot ZE 181 at Verneuil, symbol of a winegrowing philosophy in which organic terroir takes precedence over volume, with three years of cellar ageing before disgorgement.
The perfect pairing
Aperitif
Its bright vivacity and touch of green almond elevate warm gougères straight from the oven.
Starter
Its liveliness on apple and pear pairs beautifully with a green asparagus risotto.
Main course
Its structure from the oak ageing and its bitter-edged finish accompany a lamb fillet with elegance.
