Tasting

The golden hue of this 2009 vintage barely hints at its age. On the nose, great purity gives way to scents of hops, cereal like an ear of wheat, and lavender. Superb scents of delicate vanilla, cappuccino and sensual sweetness complete the olfactory experience. On the palate, an obvious minerality gives way to an earthy side of germinated barley, blond tobacco and whisky barrel.

Terroir-Champagne Deutz

Terroirs

Montagne de Reims.

The Cumières Premier Cru terroir is the birthplace of this exceptional cuvée. Situated on sun-drenched hillsides overlooking the Marne, it offers ideal conditions for the full expression of Champagne grape varieties. The rich, lively clay-limestone soils give the wine structure, freshness and complexity. It is this soil, worked with care and respect, that leaves its mark on each vintage, revealing all the strength of the place and the natural elegance of the grapes.

About this house

Maison René Geoffroy is the heir to generations of family know-how in Cumières, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims. Driven by a philosophy of craftsmanship and respect for the living world, the vines are cultivated using the "lutte raisonnée" method, with particular attention paid to soil work and biodiversity. Each cuvée is conceived as a sincere reflection of the terroir, with parcel-by-parcel vinification and, often, barrel ageing. True to its independence and identity, Geoffroy produces champagnes of character, precise, vibrant and deeply rooted in their origins.
