Terroir-Champagne-Ruinart

Terroirs

Montagne de Reims

The terroir of Cuvée Vol au Vent is located in Verzenay, a Grand Cru village on the Montagne de Reims, renowned for the exceptional quality of its soils. Here, the vines flourish on northeast-facing slopes, in soils rich in pure chalk, offering natural drainage and great freshness to the grapes. This unique terroir lends the champagnes a chalky minerality, elegant uprightness and rare aromatic tension. Although Verzenay is historically a Pinot Noir terroir, the Champagne wines that come from it, like Vol au Vent, combine the power of the soil with the finesse of controlled parcel-based vinification, for a vibrant, structured and airy result.
