Terroir-Champagne-Ruinart

Terroirs

Le Levant's old vines, aged between 60 and 85 years, face south-east on an exceptional terroir, offering a unique complexity to the wine thanks to their deep roots and the diversity of the old vines. Naturally cultivated to achieve perfect ripeness, they produce powerful, rich grapes. Created in 1988, the cuvée changed its name from "Vieille Vigne de Cramant" to "Vieille Vigne du Levant" to avoid confusion with Crémant. The plot, located in Bourron du Levant, benefits from the first rays of sunshine, producing particularly intense grapes.

About this house

Larmandier-Bernier is a family-run company based in Vertus, in the Côte des Blancs region, specializing in terroir Champagnes. Run by Pierre and Sophie Larmandier, it has been practicing biodynamics for over 20 years, cultivating its vines without herbicides or chemical fertilizers to reveal the minerality of the chalky soils. Vinified with indigenous yeasts and aged in barrels and foudres, her Champagnes combine purity, precision and elegance. A benchmark among great winemakers' Champagnes.
