About this house : RARE Champagne
From Marie-Antoinette to Fabergé
To commemorate the centenary of the presentation by Piper-Heidsieck of the first Cuvée Grand Cru to Queen Marie-Antoinette, a series of limited editions was produced in 1885: Cuvée Centenaire. Pierre-Karl Fabergé, the jeweler of Tsar Alexander III, designed spectacular enamel decorations. Unfortunately, the technology of the time did not allow to realize it, the glass of the bottle was too fragile. A label faithfully reproducing the design is then affixed to the bottle of this exclusive edition. This centennial vintage announces a rare champagne.
Rare Champagne - Van Cleef & Arpels
In 1985, one hundred years after Fabergé's bottle, Van Cleef & Arpels designed a high jewelry bottle for the first vintage of the 20th century, Rare Vintage 1976, made of gold, diamonds and lapis lazuli.
After months of hard work, in 1985, the extraordinary bottle produced in a single copy finally left the Van Cleef & Arpels workshops. Its design is close to the original, a fusion of rock and baroque. This treasure bottle highlights the know-how of rare champagnes and the extraordinary quality of French dry vintages.
It has always favored the exceptional. Bold, intuitive, the man nicknamed the Champagne Terrible Kid served the group for 26 years and eventually earned the rare champagne logo. Like him, all his years received the most prestigious honors, electing the most significant cellar masters of the century. A legend was born. Although his bow is drawn, Régis Camus is and will remain a rare figure of excellence.
The Signature - Dazzling Elegance
Blossoming year after year, Champagne Rare exhibits persistent vibrancy and minerality, radiant purity and subtle contrasts in a refined style.
Tropical Fruit and Sweet Spice
Champagne Rare is known for its flavors of sweet spice and fresh tropical fruit, sometimes candied fruit, and smoky flavor, a testament to the minerality of Chardonnay, rooted in limestone soils, with an exotic harmony.
Emilien Boutillat - Cellar master
push back. To find the authenticity of a history, itself, in the gold of a rare champagne. His hometown of Chaumuzy is nestled under the vineyards of the Ardre Valley.
With a double degree in agricultural engineering and oenology, he combines a Cartesian mind with a particular sensitivity for the terroir that cannot be reduced to a formula.
The sophistication and know-how of responsible viticulture give him an extraordinary expertise, dominated by an interdisciplinary approach. Pruning the vines, tying them and harvesting the grapes at maturity has always supported the art of blending.
