Tasting
Rare Millésime 2006 radiates iridescent yellow-green gold and harmonious, dynamic bubbles.
On the nose, Rare Millésime 2006 is enveloping, honeyed, oriental. Scents of mango, white chocolate, cocoa, coffee and tropical fruit offer racy complexity. Notes of jasmine tea, dried apricot and pink peony precede a light, vegetal structure, over which vanilla, yellow kiwi and oriental spices blossom.
In exceptional length, mocha and cocoa underpin the minerality. Dried apricots, citron and lime coat the palate with smoky, oriental warmth. On the finish, accents of crisp honeyed pastries and espelette pepper underline the wine's taut freshness and long life.

Terroirs
Montagne de Reims
Rare Champagne breaks codes by choosing chardonnays from the Montagne de Reims, essentially known for pinot noir, which bring an incredible, precise minerality.
It also favors Montagne de Reims Pinot Noirs, rich in velvety intensity and pure, silky texture.
About this house
To mark the centenary of the presentation of the firstprestige cuvée from Piper-Heidsieck to Queen Marie-Antoinette, a limited series of bottles was produced in 1885: the Cuvée du Centenaire. Pierre-Karl Fabergé, jeweler to Tsar Alexander III, designed the spectacular enamel decoration.
Unfortunately, the techniques of the time did not allow it to be executed, as the glass in the bottles was too fragile. A label faithfully reproducing the design was affixed to the bottles of this exclusive edition. This centenary cuvée foreshadows Rare Champagne.
