Krug Clos du Mesnil 2008

3842 Views

We invite you to discover the Soliste, the ultimate expression of Krug Clos du Mesnil: made from a single Clos du Mesnil parcel, a single Chardonnay grape variety, and a single harvest vintage. , 2008. This 1.84 hectare vineyard has been surrounded by protective walls since 1698. The vineyards are located in the heart of Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of the most emblematic villages of Chardonnay in Champagne.

Krug Clos du Mesnil 2008 releases an elegant, long, unique and refined structure. It is silky and warm.
Krug Clos du Mesnil 2008 embodies the purity of one of the best terroirs in the region, grown on a single piece of land surrounded by walls, Clos du Mesnil and single-varietal Chardonnay, harvested in 2008.

2008 was the coolest year for Champagne in 14 years, but it was also the sunniest year for the region in nearly half a century. During the season and the dry summer, rainfall was normal, followed by a lull before the harvest. With no thermal spikes, the grapes ripened slowly and evenly.

The Clos du Mesnil harvest on September 18 and 21, 2008 brought intense freshness and elegance to the grapes, resulting in wines with good structure, allowing the House Krug to produce 13,160 and 500 bottles (more on that later, determined by tasting).
Krug Clos du Mesnil perpetuates the unconventional spirit of the founder of the House Krug, Joseph Krug. It embodies the Champagnebrand's unique approach to Champagne making, which includes an in-depth knowledge of each parcel and its wines to create a Champagne of unparalleled quality as imagined by our founders.

TASTING
"This is a powerful, sensual and intense Blanc de Blancs, with lots of chalk, lemon, apricot stone, walnut, flint, cookie, toast, white grapefruit and quince. It is lively, closed and structured. Its bubbles are tight with pronounced acidity. Very long and persistent."
James Sucer - 2022
NOTE 99/100

THE RIGHT TEMPERATURE
We recommend that you serve Krug Champagnes at a temperature between 9 and 12°C to fully reveal their richness. Serving your bottle too cool would prevent the expression of the aromas.
