Krug

Grande Cuvée 169e Édition

0,75L

Champagne Krug Grande Cuvée is the emblematic signature of the House of Krug. Since 1843, Krug Grande Cuvée has embodied what Joseph Krug, founder of the House of Krug, sought to offer his customers: a Champagne of great richness and fine elegance, beyond the vintages.

It takes more than twenty years to create a bottle of Krug Grande Cuvée. A blend of several wines from different years, Krug Grande Cuvée offers a unique mosaic of aromas, impossible to express with a single year. It is the first prestige cuvée to be recreated every year, surpassing the very notion of vintage.

Terroirs

The year 2013 started with a long and harsh winter and a very wet spring.

Fortunately the warm and sunny summer allowed the pinot noir (43%), chardonnay (35%) and meunier (22%) to reach full maturity

These wines were then blended with reserve wines (146 wines from 11 different vintages ) and kept in the cellars Krug for seven years to develop their elegant style and aromatic intensity.

Chef's word

Chef Arnaud Lallement testifies

"This Grande Cuvée tells me the history of Champagne for one hundred and fifty years. It is a meal wine that triumphs from the aperitif to the dessert. As it opens, its aromas evolve. The freshness and vivacity of the beginning give way to notes of candied citrus, toasted, toasted nuances, which will enjoy the company of a capon stuffed with foie gras and mushrooms or that of a duck with ponzu (citrus and soy reduction)."
