Krug Rosé was born from the dream of the fifth generation of the Krug family to create a unique Rosé Champagne that can be recreated every year.
This Rosé 28th Edition is surprising because it can easily play the role of a good red wine served at the table. An aging of about six years in the cellars of the House of Krug gives this Champagne Krug Rosé its refined elegance.
Bottle sold with its box.
Visually, its subtle pale pink color is synonymous with elegance.
On the nose, it reveals aromas of rosehip, smoked ham, blackberry, redcurrant, peony, pepper and pink grapefruit.
On the palate, delicate notes of honey, citrus and dried fruit accompany a long finish that is enhanced by fine bubbles.
The Krug Rosé 28th Edition celebrates fruit in all its forms, with a unique hue, remarkable length and hints of spice brought out by the macerated red Pinot Noir. Composed around the 2016 harvest, marked by a contrasting climate between a wet spring and a summer heatwave, this edition combines 32 wines from six years, with the oldest dating back to 2010. The blend, aged 7 years in the cellar, balances the elegance of the white wines with their generous notes of red and yellow fruit, with the structure and intensity of the red Pinot Noir d'Aÿ wines. It is composed of 58% Pinot Noir (including 10% red), 25% Chardonnay and 17% Meunier, with 38% reserve wines. This edition embodies a perfect balance between substance and finesse.
The House was founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a non-conformist visionary with an uncompromising philosophy. His dream was to create the best possible Champagne every year, regardless of annual climatic variations.
With his traditional approach to Champagne-making, Joseph Krug decided to go beyond the very notion of vintage to create the most generous expression of Champagne every year. He thus founded a House where all Champagnes would be of equal distinction.
Chef Arnaud Lallement testifies:
"This Grande Cuvée tells me thestory of Champagne over the last hundred and fifty years. It's a meal wine that triumphs from aperitif to dessert. As it opens, its aromas evolve. The freshness and liveliness of the beginning give way to notes of candied citrus, toasted, toasted nuances, which will enjoy the company of a capon stuffed with foie gras and mushrooms or duck with ponzu (citrus and soy reduction)."
