This cuvée pays tribute to Suzanne Gosset (1885–1970), who led the House from 1955 to 1965. A visionary, she persuaded those around her to present the rosé Champagne — the House’s signature specialty — in clear glass bottles, thereby highlighting its delicate hue. In 1947, it became the very first rosé Champagne to be offered in a “white bottle.”
This rosé is distinguished by its predominance of Chardonnay, which gives it freshness and uprightness. It is harmoniously complemented by Meuniers and Pinots Noirs, bringing structure and deliciousness. Cumières red wine, selected for its pure, ripe fruitiness, enriches the blend. The base wines were aged for 9 months on lees before blending and bottling. The cuvée was then aged for at least 60 months on the lees of secondary fermentation.
Cellaring: late spring 2018
Disgorging: after disgorging, the bottles are returned to the cellars to rest for at least 12 months to allow the wine to assimilate the dosage harmoniously
Villages: Aÿ, Bar-sur-Aube, Bouzy, Courmas, Cumières, Montgenost, Passy-surMarne, Tauxières, Vandières
The history of the GOSSET family began over four centuries ago with the line's first official ancestor, Jean GOSSET (1484-1556), "Seigneur d'Aÿ et de Mareuil".
Sixteen generations followed him to Aÿ in the Champagne region, growing vines and trading in Champagne wines.
The merger with the Cointreau family at the end of the 20th century, and the birth of CELEBRIS vintage vintages, put Champagne GOSSET in the upper echelons of prestigious Houses, both in France and abroad.
The "Gosset Matchmakers" competition rewards a daring British sommelier/chef duo with less than 5 years' experience.
The 2020 winners, Joshua Castle and chef Myles Donaldson, proposed a pan-seared veal brain in brown butter, lardo di Colonnata, fresh hazelnuts and champagne vinegar, served with Grand Rosé offered at a slightly higher temperature (10-13 degrees).
