Terroirs

The Maison Krug vineyards include two exceptional clos - Clos du Mesnil, with over 15 hectares of Chardonnay, and Clos d'Ambonnay, a tiny 0.68-hectare plot of Pinot Noir - which contribute to the remarkable quality of its champagnes. The 2013 vintage, marked by a long, harsh winter followed by a very wet spring, produced an autumn harvest under cool, rainy weather, shaping the year's unique character. Aged for over ten years in the cellar, Krug 2013 has developed exceptional aromatic complexity and structure, offering incomparable depth and personality.

Champagne Carbon

About this house

The House was founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a non-conformist visionary with an uncompromising philosophy. His dream was to create the best Champagne possible every year, regardless of annual climatic variations. Joseph Krug achieved his dream by paying particular attention to the character of the vineyard, respecting the individuality of each plot and its wine, and building up a vast library of reserve wines from different years. With his traditional approach to Champagne making, he decided to go beyond the very notion of vintage to create, each year, themost generous expression of Champagne. He thus founded a House where all Champagnes would be of equal distinction. Since then, six generations of the Krug family have pursued this dream, enriching the vision and know-how of the House's founder.
