Krug
Vintage 2008 (EN)
The House considers that each Krug Vintage expresses the unique character of a particular year. A Krug Millésime brings together the most expressive wines of the same year, enhanced by aging for more than ten years in the cellar. Each Krug Millésime is different: it is the Music of the Year, transposed into the Krug universe.
Krug 2008 is the elegant and intense story of a fresh and balanced year, which our Maison's tasting committee dubbed "Timeless Elegance".

Krug 2008 is lively, intense and harmonious, with good tension on the palate, notes of quince, candied fruit and citrus, yellow kiwi, carambola, honey, apple pie, petit beurre, orange peel, peony and fennel, and floral and menthol touches stand out on tasting.
Finally, the Krug vintage 2008 offers length on the palate, yet is precise and remarkably structured.

Terroirs & Grape Varieties
The absence of hot weather during the summer of 2008 allowed the grapes to ripen slowly and progressively.
For the final creation, we chose the wines that best underlined the exceptional character of 2008.
For the final blend, the Pinots Noirs, which make up more than half of the blend (53%), come from parcels on the southern slopes of the Montagne de Reims (Aÿ, Mareuil, Bouzy and Ambonnay). The Meuniers (25%), full of tension, bring citrus notes, while the Chardonnay (22%) lends a fruity note to the whole.
About this house
The House was founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, an extremely visionary man, a non-conformist with an uncompromising philosophy. His dream was to create the best possible Champagne every year, irrespective of annual variations in climate and production.
Clinging to a traditional approach to Champagne-making, Joseph Krug decided to go beyond the very notion of vintage to create the most generous expression of Champagne every year. He thus founded a House where all Champagnes would be of equal distinction.

Chef's word
Chef Arnaud Lallement testifies:
"This bottle of Grande Cuvée tells me thestory of Champagne for one hundred and fifty years. It's a wine for meals, and an undeniable triumph, from aperitif to dessert. As it opens, its aromas evolve. The freshness and vivacity of the beginning give way to notes of candied citrus fruit and toasty, toasty nuances, which will enjoy the company of a capon stuffed with foie gras and small mushrooms, or duck with ponzu (citrus and soy reduction)."
