Taittinger Champagne — a legendary cuvée

Taittinger’s cuvées — from Brut Réserve to Prestige

Brut Réserve, a predominantly Chardonnay blend drawn from a selection of 37 Champagne crus, is at its best as an aperitif or served with oysters and langoustines. Les Folies de la Marquetterie, made exclusively from the estate’s own vineyards, develops aromas of peach and apricot that pair perfectly with roast poultry or semi-cured foie gras. Comtes de Champagne, an award-winning vintage blanc de blancs, is at its best with pan-fried scallops, turbot or a mature goat’s cheese.

The Nocturne, with a more generous dosage, is the perfect dessert champagne to serve with a fruit tart or an iced soufflé. The entire range should be served at between 8 and 10 °C in a tulip-shaped glass to fully release the aromas. Taittinger — Three centuries of independence and Chardonnay

The house was founded in 1734 by Jacques Fourneaux in Reims. Pierre Taittinger took the reins in 1932 and ensured the family name would be associated with it for generations to come. After a period away from family ownership, the Taittingers bought back their own house in 2006 — a move that marked the beginning of an independence they have jealously safeguarded ever since. Vitalie Taittinger is now the company’s chairperson, continuing nearly three centuries of Champagne expertise passed down from generation to generation.

The 289-hectare vineyard, planted on the predominantly chalky slopes of Champagne, is one of the largest estates in the region. The white soils of the Côte des Blancs, formed from sixteen-century-old Gallo-Roman chalk quarries, lend the Chardonnays a minerality and tension characteristic of the Taittinger style — light, precise and with great length on the palate.
