Roundness
Reserve wines and the presence of the pinots bring a generous fruitiness and an enveloping mouthfeel.

Balanced and restrained, never seeking opulence — this is, above all, a champagne of finesse.
Length
A beautiful aromatic persistence, lingering on floral and citrus notes.

TASTING NOTES

A golden robe with green highlights, threaded through with fine, persistent bubbles. On the nose, white blossom, candied lemon and a delicate brioche note born of the élevage. On the palate, the crisp freshness of chardonnay enters into dialogue with the velvety fruitiness of the pinots, delivering a lively, lingering, saline finish.

Terroirs

A blend of some fifty crus drawn from the Côte des Blancs, the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne, with a marked preponderance of chardonnay — Taittinger's defining signature among the great non-vintage cuvées.

Taittinger

About this house

Founded in 1734 under the name Forrest & Bischops and acquired by Pierre Taittinger in 1932, the house has established itself as one of the rare grandes maisons still operating as an independent, family-owned estate. Based in Reims in chalk cellars hewn by Benedictine monks in the thirteenth century, it lays claim to 288 hectares of estate-owned vineyard, covering more than a third of its grape supply.

Taittinger is distinguished by a profound commitment to chardonnay — the cépage of finesse and elegance par excellence — which it tends with a rigour that shows through in every cuvée. This philosophy places the house firmly in the register of lightness and aromatic precision, a deliberate counterpoint to the champagnes of power and opulence.

Its fine bubbles and bright citrus vivacity make it the ideal companion to light, golden canapés.

The aromatic freshness and citrus notes of the champagne lift the delicacy of a herb-cured salmon gravlax.

Main Course

The minerality and lightness of this Brut marry gracefully with the creamy, vegetal sweetness of a green asparagus risotto.
