Recommended by a friend – spot on. Good length and a hint of minerality. A purchase I don’t regret.

THE CUVÉES OF MAISON PERRIER-JOUËT
The colour is a luminous pale gold, animated by an exceptionally fine and persistent bead. The nose, the House's signature floral expression, opens on honeysuckle, acacia and white peach before giving way to notes of poached pear and golden brioche. On the palate, the attack is fresh and creamy, with the minerality of the Côte des Blancs underpinning a long finish of toasted almond and candied citrus zest.

The cuvée brings together Grand Cru parcels from the Côte des Blancs (Cramant, Avize) for the Chardonnay — the floral and mineral backbone of the Perrier-Jouët style — and from the Montagne de Reims (Verzy, Mailly-Champagne) for the Pinot Noir, which contributes structure and fruited depth. The 2016 vintage, defined by a steady summer following a difficult spring, yielded grapes of exemplary ripeness and fine natural acidity.
Founded in 1811 in Épernay by Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose-Adélaïde Jouët, the House stands as one of the historic references on the right bank of the Marne. Rooted in an Art Nouveau aesthetic ever since the creation of the Belle Époque bottle — adorned with a hand-painted white anemone, originally designed by Émile Gallé — it embodies a style that is floral, delicate and remarkably precise.
The Belle Époque cuvée, produced only in the finest years, draws from the House's best Grand Crus. Each vintage is the fruit of lengthy maturation that reveals both the expression of the terroir and the unmistakable floral signature of Perrier-Jouët.
The fine bubbles and saline minerality of the Belle Époque heighten the briny freshness of full-sea oysters.
The champagne's creamy texture and floral notes respond with elegance to the sweetness of lightly buttered lobster.
The aromatic complexity and length of the 2016 vintage pair beautifully with the earthy depth of morel mushrooms.

A deliberate attempt to please, and a success. Notes of brioche and minerality are very much present. Exactly what was needed.
