Deutz — A house with deep roots in the grands crus of Aÿ

William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann founded the house in 1838 in Aÿ, choosing this Grand Cru village for the richness of its chalky soils, the aspect of its hillsides and the reputation of its classified terroirs. Nearly two centuries of expertise later, the vineyard covers almost 200 hectares, 42 of which are owned outright — a landholding that gives Deutz a level of control over its raw materials that few Champagne houses can claim with such consistency.

In 1993, the Rouzaud family — owners of Louis Roederer — acquired a stake in Deutz, bringing stability and resources without compromising the house’s unique identity. This partnership preserves the house’s stylistic independence and the meticulous care taken with each blend: champagnes guided by the same guiding principle since the very beginning – precise, elegant and free from any over-extraction.
