About this house
Founded in 1772 in Reims by Philippe Clicquot, the house owes its soul to Barbe-Nicole Clicquot-Ponsardin, who took the reins at the age of 27 in 1805 and revolutionised Champagne by inventing the riddling rack. Her buttercup yellow, now a global signature, has embodied the union of audacity and elegance for two centuries.
La Grande Dame, created in 1972 as a tribute to the founder, is produced only in exceptional vintages. It rests on a constant selection of eight grand crus, perpetuating the ideal of precision and femininity that has distinguished Maison Clicquot for over 250 years.
