TASTING NOTES

The colour is a luminous amber gold with fine, persistent bubbles — testament to a long maturation. The nose weaves buttery brioche, candied pear and citrus with a subtle iodine signature, the hallmark of underwater ageing at 60 metres depth in the Atlantic. The palate is both generous and taut, with a chalky, saline minerality of rare singularity, leading to a long, salt-tinged finish carried by an Extra Brut dosage of 4.6 g/L.

Terroirs

Sourced exclusively from Premier Cru vines in Sacy, a flagship village of the Montagne de Reims, grown on pure chalk soils that bestow crisp acidity and crystalline minerality. The 2016 vintage — an exceptional harvest following a hot, dry summer — expresses ripe fruit and an ideal structure for extended ageing.

André Chemin

About this house

Founded in 1948 by André and Micheline Chemin, pioneers of Champagne production in Sacy, the house tends 6.5 hectares of Premier Cru vines on the Montagne de Reims. Certified Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) and Sustainable Viticulture, it produces around 55,000 bottles a year with an uncompromisingly artisanal ethos.

Eva and Sébastien Chemin, the third generation, are steering the domaine towards uncharted experiences — among them this Atlantic immersion at 60 metres depth — to reveal new expressions of the family's chalky terroir and to explore time itself as a winemaking variable.
