Aromatic profile

The structure of this champagne

Four dimensions to capture its balance
Freshness
A cutting acidity and chalky tension — the unmistakeable signature of Trépail Premier Cru's cretaceous soils.
Roundness
A gentle unctuousness lent by partial vinification in old Burgundian oak.
Depth
Old-vine Chardonnay — concentrated and present, yet never overwhelming the wine's inherent finesse.
Length
A saline, iodine-tinged finish of remarkable persistence, the mark of a truly expressive terroir.

TASTING NOTES

A golden robe with chartreuse highlights, fine silky bubbles forming a persistent cordon. On the nose, candied citrus, acacia blossom and damp chalk — hallmarks of Trépail's terroir. On the palate, the attack is lively and precise; clean notes of lime and grey apple meld into a remarkable chalky tension, while the finish lingers on an iodine-tinged, deeply mineral salinity.

Terroirs

Trépail, Premier Cru of the Montagne de Reims, on clay-limestone soils rich in chalk. L'Artiste LV22 assembles three Chardonnay parcels aged between 30 and 50 years, farmed under certified Demeter biodynamics, partly vinified in barrel on indigenous yeasts — base vintage 2022.

David Léclapart

About this house

David Léclapart is an artisan grower from Trépail who embraced biodynamics as early as 1998, long before the approach became a benchmark in Champagne. Demeter-certified, he works with indigenous yeasts, without chaptalization or filtration, and keeps yields deliberately low.

His cuvées — L'Artiste, L'Apôtre, L'Astronome — form a triptych of single-parcel wines, all Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature, produced in micro-batches that are keenly sought after by devotees of exceptional grower Champagne.

Food pairing

The perfect pairing

Between the champagne and its dish
Aperitif

Aperitif

The fine bubbles and chalky minerality pair naturally with Parmesan shortbreads, whose umami depth underscores the Chardonnay's tension.

Starter

Starter

The citrus and herb notes of gravlax resonate beautifully with the lively, lemony character of this Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature.

Main

Main

The mineral tension and absence of dosage marry elegantly with the delicate, iodine quality of pan-seared Saint-Jacques scallops.
