THE CUVÉES OF MAISON PHILIPPE LANCELOT
A deep salmon-pink robe with ruby highlights, crystal-clear in the glass with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose opens on an intense bouquet of wild strawberry, fresh raspberry and peony, threaded with nuances of blood orange and oriental spices inherited from the maceration. On the palate, the wine is generous and enveloping, underpinned by the bright, precise acidity that is the hallmark of the 2012 vintage, with a very long mineral and fruited finish that attests to the nobility of the Ambonnay terroir.

The Le Terme Bazin plot, in Ambonnay Grand Cru (Montagne de Reims), has been planted to Pinot Noir since 1979 on deep argilo-calcareous soils that impart structure and complexity to the wines. Ambonnay is one of the 17 villages classified as Grand Cru in Champagne, universally recognised for the depth and richness of its Pinot Noirs.
Philippe Lancelot stewards the family domaine in Cramant, at the heart of the Côte des Blancs, founded in the 1970s by his parents (Y. Lancelot Wanner). Converted to biodynamics as early as 2012, the estate holds AB Ecocert (2014), Demeter (2015) and Biodyvin (2020) certifications — making it one of the most rigorously committed houses in the appellation.
In close collaboration with oenologist Hervé Jestin since 2009, Philippe Lancelot pursues a parcel-driven viticulture and vinifications with minimal sulphur additions (no added sulphur since the 2015 harvest). Late disgorgements, unwavering respect for vintage and lieu-dit: a craft grower's philosophy that places the truth of terroir above all else.
Served on its own to appreciate its full complexity, or alongside blinis topped with wild salmon tartare and a touch of Aquitaine caviar.
Warm Breton lobster salad with hazelnut oil dressing and fresh herbs, a natural counterpart to the silkiness of Pinot Noir in a rosé de saignée.
Roasted fillet of veal with morels and black truffle jus — an inspired match for the power and persistence of this vintage Grand Cru cuvée.
