TASTING NOTES

The colour is a luminous pale gold, alive with fine persistent bubbles forming a delicate cordon. The nose opens on white blossom, candied citrus and chalk, before giving way to toasted brioche and a touch of fresh almond. On the palate, the tension is arresting: the vibrant acidity of the 2013 vintage enters into dialogue with a silky texture and an aromatic depth of great complexity, culminating in a finish of exceptional length.

Terroirs

A blend of Chardonnays from seven grands crus — principally Chouilly, Cramant, Avize and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger on the Côte des Blancs, complemented by Sillery and Puisieulx in the Montagne de Reims — grown on pure chalk soils that impart a distinctive minerality and exceptional ageing potential.

Dom Ruinart

About this house

Founded in 1729 by Nicolas Ruinart, Maison Ruinart is the oldest established Champagne house still in operation. Based in Reims, it draws on a network of crayères listed as UNESCO World Heritage, where its wines mature under ideal conditions of cool temperature and humidity.

With a style resolutely centred on Chardonnay, Ruinart has elevated the Blanc de Blancs to its defining signature. Dom Ruinart, the prestige cuvée drawn from carefully selected grands crus, represents the most accomplished expression of this centuries-old expertise, under the stewardship of Chef de Caves Frédéric Panaïotis.
