I’m honestly blown away by this vintage. Elegant and refined – absolutely flawless. I’d give it 5 stars without a second thought.

THE CUVÉES OF MAISON KRUG
The robe is golden with amber highlights, threaded through with fine, persistent bubbles. The nose opens on an elegant bouquet of spring flowers, candied citrus, marzipan and pain d'épices. On the palate, a bright lemon tension and notes of limoncello find their balance in a luscious richness of toasted almond and dried fruits, leading to a long, honeyed finish of remarkable precision.

The 171st Edition is built around the 2015 harvest, blending 131 wines drawn from 12 different years (2000 to 2015), of which 42% are reserve wines from the Maison's cellar library. This multi-vintage, multi-terroir assemblage transcends the vagaries of climate to achieve the absolute stylistic consistency that defines the Grande Cuvée.
Founded in 1843 in Reims by Joseph Krug, a native of Mainz, Maison Krug enshrined the refusal of compromise as its founding philosophy. Joseph dreamt of a Champagne that would rise above the whims of any single vintage: each year, a new Edition of the Grande Cuvée is composed from more than a hundred carefully selected wines — a significant proportion of which are reserve wines maturing in the Maison's library — before a minimum of seven years on lees.
To this day, Krug vinifies each plot separately, preserving the singularity of every terroir before the final assemblage. Now a member of the LVMH family since 1999, the Maison remains guided by that original vision: no other cuvée in Champagne demands such complexity of elaboration, nor achieves such depth of style.
Comté gougères — flaky and molten at the heart — find a natural affinity with the toasted, pain d'épices notes on the nose.
The velvety richness of foie gras opens up beautifully within the roundness and aromatic depth of this Grande Cuvée — a prestige pairing par excellence.
A delicate morel mushroom risotto, earthy and refined, enters into elegant dialogue with the dried-fruit notes and silky power of the Krug.
