About this house

Philipponnat is a historic house founded in 1522, based in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ at the heart of the Vallée de la Marne. It is today led by Charles Philipponnat, a rare figure in Champagne: both president and chef de cave, he is one of the great champions of low dosage and single-parcel vinification.

Its absolute crown jewel is the Clos des Goisses, a steep, south-facing vineyard that has been the emblem of the house for decades. The Grand Blanc illustrates another facet of Philipponnat: the pursuit of excellence in Chardonnay — all the more striking in a house whose signature remains Pinot Noir.
