About this house

René Rutat is a family house of grower-producers established in Vertus, at the heart of the Premier Cru Côte des Blancs. René was the first of the line to vinify his own grapes; since 1985, his son Michel has steered a 7-hectare estate divided into 26 named parcels, planted to 95% Chardonnay.

A pioneer of organic viticulture in Champagne, the house began its conversion as early as 2016 and harvested its first certified Organic Agriculture vintage in 2019. The entire vineyard is now farmed organically, reflecting a strong commitment to preserving the terroir and to transparency with the consumer.
