THE CUVÉES OF MAISON DEUTZ
The robe unfolds in a luminous salmon-pink with lively highlights, its fine, persistent bubbles elevated by the Methuselah format's unhurried maturation. On the nose, red fruits burst forth — cherry, redcurrant, raspberry, pomegranate — lifted by a delicate floral note of fresh rose. On the palate, the attack is round and generous, underpinned by a chiselled acidity that ensures a long, salivating finish with nuances of red berries.

An assemblage dominated by Pinot Noirs from the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne (Aÿ, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzenay), with the decisive contribution of 4 to 8% red wine drawn from old vines on the Côte d'Aÿ — including the historic « Meurtet » plot with its exceptional exposure — which lends the rosé its depth of character and intensity of colour.
Founded in 1838 in Aÿ by William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, Maison Deutz is one of the great historic houses of Champagne. Established at the heart of the Grand Cru of Aÿ, it has built its reputation on a precise and elegant style, favouring finesse over power, with a parcel-by-parcel vinification in stainless-steel vats to express each terroir at its finest.
Under the stewardship of Fabrice Rosset, the house perpetuates this philosophy of excellence: its cuvées age for nearly three years on laths in the chalk cellars hewn beneath the town of Aÿ. The Methuselah format — 6 litres, equivalent to eight bottles — represents the ultimate expression of this expertise, the larger volume encouraging a slow ageing process and an unrivalled aromatic integration.
Prawn tartlets make an ideal opening pairing, their briny sweetness entering into perfect dialogue with the rosé's iodine-tinged, fruity character for an elegant start to the meal.
Citrus and fresh herb gravlax of salmon responds with precision to the champagne's vivacity and red fruit aromas.
Duck magret with orange reveals the full richness of the dominant Pinot Noir, echoing and prolonging the rosé's fruity notes.
