TASTING NOTES

Deep golden robe with amber reflections, fine and persistent effervescence. The nose is sumptuously complex: white peach, candied mirabelle plum, toasted brioche, hazelnut butter and flint, with a touch of sea breeze. On the palate, the attack is round and opulent, underpinned by a keen acidity and silky tannins, before a masterful finish with notes of beeswax, smoke and candied citrus zest.

Terroirs

An unprecedented blend of 62% Pinot Noir and 38% Chardonnay drawn from Grand Cru parcel selection in the scorching 2003 vintage — the warmest year since 1822 — aged fifteen years on lees before disgorgement in September 2019. The proportion of Pinot Noir, pushed to a level never previously achieved at Dom Pérignon, lends flesh, depth and balance to this extraordinary vintage, conceived under the supervision of Richard Geoffroy, chef de cave from 1990 to 2018, who considered 2003 his most cherished vintage.

Dom Pérignon

About this house

Dom Pérignon is the prestige cuvée of Moët & Chandon, bearing the name of the Benedictine monk of the Abbey of Hautvillers who helped perfect the art of Champagne in the 17th century. Since its first official vintage (1921), it has embodied uncompromising excellence: each cuvée is produced only in harvests deemed worthy, with certain years simply not declared.

The Plénitudes embody the house's philosophy of extended maturation: following a first revelation at P1 (approximately eight years on lees), the wine reaches its second plénitude at around fifteen years (P2), then a third at around twenty-five years (P3). Each stage unveils a new, deeper and more complex expression of the same cuvée.
