Champagne A. Bergère — From the Petit Morin terroir since 1848
Nestled in Fèrebrianges, in the heart of the Petit Morin Valley, Champagne A. Bergère embodies a rigorous vision of terroir-driven champagne: 45 hectares, 139 separately vinified plots, and a 70 per cent Chardonnay blend that imbues the style with a distinctive mineral tension. Cellar master since 2014, Adrien Bergère champions a minimalist approach — spontaneous fermentation on indigenous yeasts, gravity-fed settling at 16 °C, and ageing in a combination of stainless steel, barrels and large casks — to reveal the precision of each lieu-dit. The chalky, flinty soils of the Petit Morin sit alongside the clay-limestone soils with millstone content for the Pinot Noir, whilst plots in the grands crus of the Côte des Blancs (Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Cramant) round out the aromatic palette. The result: precise champagnes, unfiltered and unfined, whose clarity and definition deserve the attention of the most discerning connoisseurs.
