TASTING NOTES

The colour is pale gold with emerald highlights, animated by a fine, persistent stream of bubbles. On the nose, fresh mint plays against pink grapefruit and frangipane, before aeration reveals subtle notes reminiscent of a great white Burgundy — quicklime, lime blossom and white pepper. The palate opens with a clean, citrus-driven attack, evolving towards indulgent notes of tarte tatin, salted-butter roast apple and far breton lifted by candied ginger, before a long, tonic and mineral finish.

An assemblage of Chardonnays from Grand Cru vineyards on the Côte des Blancs (Avize, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger) and the Montagne de Reims (Trépail, Villers-Marmery), grown on pure chalk soils that impart the wine's signature mineral tension. The first vintage Blanc de Blancs ever released by Gosset, limited to 15,000 bottles.

About this house

Founded in 1584 in Aÿ, Gosset is the oldest wine house in Champagne — predating the very codification of the méthode champenoise. Acquired in 1994 by the Cointreau family, it upholds a philosophy of wines built for ageing, vinified without malolactic fermentation so as to preserve the natural freshness and complexity of each assemblage.

The Célébris cuvées represent the pinnacle of the range: minimal dosage, extended lees ageing, and an ambition to rival the greatest wines in the world. The Célébris Blanc de Blancs 2012 marks the house's first foray into vintage Blanc de Blancs — a limited, confidential release that has been enthusiastically acclaimed by the specialist international press.
